The Washington State Auditor’s Office (SAO) wanted to make it easier for Washingtonians to track their tax dollars at work, a challenge that required a new approach to old ideas about government websites. With interactive maps, downloadable audit reports, and user-customizable manuals, Gard designed a site to serve several different audiences, including the general public, government accountants, legislators, journalists and financial analysts. The SAO staff believes that information is power, and they wanted to equip the residents of Washington with information in an easy, inviting way. Gard’s team was eager to help make that happen.
