These days, you barely have to wonder what that person next to you in the fast lane is jamming out to, because you can probably watch a video of it later! TikTok, Instagram and Twitter have led the industry in helping people create content that people find engaging and impactful. But storying in the car or while driving can lead to some treacherous consequences.
Distracted Driving has been shown to lead to higher incidents of crashes and fatalities on the road. For example, the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration reported that more than 3,000 fatalities in 2019 involved Distracted Driving.
Gard’s creative team, alongside multiple partners, including ODOT’s Transportation Safety Division, actively helps bring awareness to the dangers of using a mobile eletronic device while driving. We create different forms of interactive media, including video, radio, Spanish language media and digital advertising.
Introduced in 2017, Oregon’ Distracted Driving law was one of the first of its kind in the nation. It makes it illegal to use a handheld mobile electronic device while driving. A first offense without a crash can result in a fine of up to $1,000; later convictions can come with fines up to $2,500 and six months in jail.
Here at Gard, we’re honored to get to share these materials around the state, promoting safety and awareness for all Oregonians. After all, it’s the way to go!
